Lyndn B. Johnson State Park Volksmarch (10K)

We did the Year Round Event today that explores the LBJ State Park near Stonewall, TX.  The walk starts at the visitor’s center and goes to the exhibit building with information on LBJ.  It continues along a nature trail to the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm where people dressed in period costume actually work the farm.  Leaving the farm the walk continues to the pasture where there is a herd of buffalo.  Returning past the visitors center you walk the other direction to the Danz Homestead.  From the Danz Homestead you walk along Ranch Road 1 to a bridge over the Pedernales River to the Junction School House that LBJ attended when he was 4 years old.

It was 79 degrees when we started walking at a little after 9am.  It was 89 degrees when we completed the six miles.  The section along Ranch Road 1 has very little shade.
