On Saturday, Feb.16th we headed south to Austin to walk with the Colorado River Walkers. It was a chilly 40 degrees when we started walking at 8am.
The first part of the walk was on the Arbor Trails. A gravel path the encircles a shopping area the includes a Whole Foods, Cosco, Wells Fargo Bank, Chuey’s, and too many more to name.
Leaving the Arbor Trail we passed through a small section of residential streets to get to the checkpoint before continuing on to the Oak Hill Rotary Trail.
Leaving the Oak Hill Rotary Trail we connected up with the Western Oaks Trail which was a short out and back.
Returning from the Western Oaks Trail we connected up with the Dick Nicholas Park Cement trail. We passed a swimming pool with a nice mural.
This trail connected back to the Oak Hill Rotary Trail and we retraced our steps past the “learning tree”. We passed more walkers headed out on the trail.
We finished the walk by crossing a cement bridge to get back to the Abiding Love Lutheran Church were we got our books stamped and saw more walkers arriving to register for the event.
