We spent two days down on the Gulf Coast. Our Saturday Volksmarching Event was at Port Lavaca. http://walkingclubs.wordpress.com/2014/02/10/port-lavaca-walking-event-0215/
Our walking tour took us along the water to start.
Then the walk went into town were we did a loop in the Cemetery before walking down Main Street.
- Mural on side of old Movie Theatre
- War Memorial on side of Courthouse
- Calhoun County Courthouse circa 1959
- Quite mural on side of tire store.
- The old RR Depot
- Seagull decoration
- See the carriage parked on the front porch
- Gypsy Wagon
We walked to the Half Moon Reef Lighthouse which was moved into town in 1979. Then did the Formosa Wetlands Walkway. It is a boardwalk over the estuary – area where a river (fresh water) drains into the sea (salt water). Depending on the tide the plants there may be in fresh water or salt. There was a bird watching pavilion out at the end and the views of the bay was nice.
We then of course had to walk back to the start where we passed this pretty rose and this interesting building.
We went on down to Rockport to spend the night so we could do a walk there. http://walktx.wordpress.com/2014/02/17/aransas-county-volksmarched-02162014/
