Walking “To Do” List

As the heat of summer is fast approaching the weekend walking events become few and far between.  So to fill the void we have Year Round Event (YREs) that can be done by anyone at most anytime (dawn to dusk on non-holidays).   Merely select a YRE from the list posted online.  Go to the start location listed and request the walk box.  Complete the registration, take a set of directions, pay your $3.00 (envelopes are provided for the purpose.  We prefer checks because we don’t want to temp the people working the start location to steal cash from us.)

Anyway there is a listing online for all 50 states.  For Texas you can go to:  http://www.ava.org/gen3/data/year_round_events_listings.asp?StShortName=TX

I have been going over the list myself today and I have selected 15 of the ones that I hope to do before the end of the year.  Here they are in alphabetical order by the city they are located in.

BOERNE – CIBOLO WILDERNESS
CASTROVILLE
DALLAS – CEDAR RIDGE PRESERVE
HUNT
LAKE LIVINGSTON – LAKE LIVINGSTON STATE PARK
OTTINE – PALMETTO STATE PARK
SAN ANTONIO – FRIEDRICH WILDERNESS PARK
SAN ANTONIO – LEON CREEK GREENBELT NORTH
SAN ANTONIO – LEON CREEK GREENBELT SOUTH
SAN ANTONIO – MISSION SAN JOSE TO MISSION SAN JUAN
SAN ANTONIO – MISSION SAN JUAN TO MISSION ESPADA
SAN ANTONIO – RIVERWALK NORTH
SEQUIN
SHINER
VANDERPOOL – LOST MAPLES STATE PARK

I hope everyone gets out and visits someplace new this year!
