Kit McConnico Park – 09/22/2018

At least half of the park on the NE side of Lufkin is a sports complex for softball and soccer.  The other half is wooded terrain in which the Lufkin Bicycle Coalition has constructed mountain bike trails.  These bike trails are where we hiked.

There was rain predicted but we decided to walk anyway. Mother nature did not disappoint… we got drenched.

Walk registration was a car in the parking lot. The kids were playing soccar so the lot was full of cars.

Map at the trailhead.

Heading out – nice and dry.

Just a view of the trail.

First of several wood bridges.

No flowers but lots of colorful fungus.

Some more of the toad stools.

It has started to rain. This toad stool holds a pool of water in its center.

Two paths diverged in the soggy woods.

We had brought along dry shirts, socks and shoes, but I forgot to bring towels along to dry off with! Oh well, we managed. We had a fun walk in spite of the rain.
