Lewisville, TX 11K

Todays walk was at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) also know as the Lewisville Wildlife Managment Area.  This area is below the Lewisville Lake dam.  It was a one day event sponsored by the Dallas Trekkers Club.  This was a nice walking event laid out in two loops.  The first loop was a short walk through the woods to the Minor-Porter Log Cabin.  The cabin was built in 1869 and was moved to this location in 2005 and it was restored.  If you would like to read the complete history it can be found here:  http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=687106

The second loop went through grasslands and woods along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River to the spillway for the Lewisville Lake.  Crossing the spillway the walk continued by going around a small lake with viewing blinds for bird watching.  Part of this trail was on boardwalks over the marshy area.
